WITHIN THE FRIESIAN HORSE WORLD THERE ARE A FEW INTERESTING VARIETIES, HERE YOU HAVE THE MAIN ONES:
PURE BRED FRIESIAN ARABO FRIESIAN (MIXTURE OF SELECTED ARABIAN BLLODLINES) BARROCK PINTO ( MIXTURE OF BLACK AND WHITE KWPN) BARROCK PAINT ARABO FRIESIAN (MIXTURE OF BLACK AND WHITE KWPN AND ARABO FRIESIAN) WARLANDER (MIXTURE OF ANDALUSIAN AND IBERIAN BLOODLINES)
THE FRIESIAN HORSE The friesian horse is cold blooded and native to Friesland. It is amongst the oldest breeds of Europe and is principally used for the carriage and saddle. There are three types of friesians, the modern build, the baroque and the classic type. From these three lines we have the TETMAN, AGE and RITSKE streams. The most common is the Tetman which influences 80% of all the friesian horses available today. The Age and Ritske lines are less common but very much sought after. Friesian horses are always black, but there is a red gene which can make some friesians red or chestnut and at times you can find some friesians with a white star which is permitted only above the eye line on the face of the horse. All the certificates of origin are produced in the Netherlands. The height of the friesian horses is between 155 and 170 cms at the withers. The blood lines heavily influence the character of the horses, no matter what their physical type is like, friesian horses are influenced mentally by the blood line they possess, the physique can influence the horse but only to a certain degree. The character of the friesian horses is sweet, easy to handle and very gentle. They are good with children and nervous ridders of those with little experience. They are gentle giants and adore human affection, they manifest a great bond with their owners and those who care for them. They are perfect for families and forgive any error we may have with them. Friesian horses can be used for: Recreational use Dressage Driving Long hauls in the country *They cannot be used for: Jumping Cross country events
THE BARROCK PAINT
The barrock paint is a very old breed that almost became extinct not so long ago. About 18 years ago a very strong intent was made to bring this breed almost back from the dead...this lovely breed comes from the mixture of friesian and KWPN blood selecting only black and white horses. We were recently offered this breed to sell and promote and see that this type of friesian has so much motor and stamina, that they make the perfect performance horse. The result of this carefully selected breeding of an old breed is that every horse gets papers of the KWPN studbook in the Netherlands, the Barrock Paint Studbook in the Netherlands and a European Sport Horse Paper. These black and white beauties have a charming character and a beautiful physique with lovely long legs and very long manes. They are excellent for jumping at an amateur level, the carriage and cross country. Their height at the withers tends to be between 160-175 cms, we have seen them taller which makes them look huge. They are definately a horse for someone who knows how to handle big horses, yet they can be quite gentle and love to show themselves of in every way.
THE ARABO FRIESIAN
The Arabo Friesian is native to the Netherlands and Belgium. It is a new breed which is a cross between the gentle friesian horse and selected black Egyptian horses coming from the Gharhib and Hamid bloodlines. The Arabo as it is commonly called is very much like a friesian but is has less hair on the fetlocks, it can be a little finer on the body, has more elastic movements and moves with great ease and suppleness. Their faces are finer and have large beautiful eyes... These beauties adapt very well to hot climates, they have a great amount of stamina and are fantastic for very hard work. This is really a sports horse and is recognised as such in Belgium. The uniqueness of this horse is that no matter how much strength and how hot they look while they work, when you have quite time with them or see them on a daily basis they are the most gentle horses you can have around you. They have great nobility and are very sweet.
THE WARLANDER
The Warlander is lovely breed coming out of the mixture between a Friesian and an Iberian bloodline. Normally this line is either Andalusian or Lusitano. The Warlander must always have a 50 / 50 balance of blood of both horse types. It can never have either 25 % of 75 % of one or the other. And it should never have any other blood mixed in with the lines. They can be mixed between Warlanders, Friesians and Iberian Lines but always maintaining the breeding criteria of 50 / 50. These horses in order to enter the registry must be at least 150 cms at the withers by the age of 4 years old. Their coat must always be of a solid coloue and only is white permitted when it is below the knees or on the face. It is a very harmonious horse, with a docile character, great beauty and resistance. It is a versatile baroque horse that moves with ease. It is perfect for dressage, carriage work and higher school. It is very strong, agile and has a great heart for working to please. It is a family horse, very tranquile, noble and of course we should think so, it comes from the friesian....
